  • Description: Gibson SG/Les Paul Junior Model Solid Body Electric Guitar (1962), made in Kalamazoo, Michigan, serial # 71680, cherry lacquer finish, mahogany body and neck, roaswood fingerboard, original brown alligator chipboard case. Built not long before the end of the "Les Paul" attribution for Gibson's premier solidbody series, this gleaming cherry Junoir still carries Les Paul's silkscreened signature, deleted when they became simply "SG's". With a nice medium-flat C-profile neck, one very hot P-90 and a nickle stoptail with Maestro Vibrola this is a very lively tone package indeed. Equipped with a good neck angle, so the vibrato is actually useful on this one! 1962 was a great year for these guitars, they may have built a lot of this model but not many have survived this nicely.Overall length is 40 in. (101.6 cm.), 13 1/4 in. (33.7 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 1 5/16 in. (3.3 cm.) in depth, measured at side of rim. Scale length is 24 3/4 in. (629 mm.). Width of nut is 1 11/16 in. (43 mm.). Superb, clean and original-a great example of an early Les Paul/SG junior. The bolt holding the trem arm is replaced, all else original. Two corners of the pickguard have small shrinkage cracks, otherwise no damage, repair or alterations; bright unfaded cherry finish overall. A lovely guitar and a fine player with the expected powerful P-90 sound. Includes the original alligator-grain SSC in better than usual condition. Excellent + Condition.
