  • Description: Southern Jumbos or "Country and Westerns" as they are sometimes referred to both by Gibson and collectors with the Natural top (post 1955) are very attractive. With Honduras mahogany sides and back, spruce top brazilian rosewood fingerbiard and bridge and the paralellogram inlays make them really very handsome. This one is a stunning player and sounds nice and open. Unusally good one for this era. It has the 1+5/8 nut width and a huge voice and is very light in weight too. It has had some changes. It has had a set of Schaller tuners installed and the back of the headstock has been professionally refin'd (probably when the tuners were done). Usually that means something was repaired. There is no signs or indication of any breaks ever under close inspection and black lighting best we can tell. There are also a few finish checking marks on the back and one that is deep but looks only to be "skin deep" or a deep finish crack but borders on what may be a very slight crack. The bridge is a totaaly orig style but is actually a non adjustable replacement with bone nut. All signs point to 1966-67 era and this one sounds great and is priced to sell! Comes with an era correct soft shell case.
