Description: Here's a very very nice, very very rare Vintage 1959 Gibson ES-335 "Dot" neck Sunburst guitar in Excellent condition with her well worn original Lifton pink lined case. You guys all mostly know what this is and I just have to say that the amber aged binding, warm sunburst, great feeling neck, and fine resonant tone really do it for me - more so than the cherry red version of these legendary "Dot" necked wonders. Just a few finish pecks and the great patina of finish checking and aged binding and lacquer. Here's a fine example that looks and plays great and has been honestly played over the years but not abused and no breaks, refinish, or major issues to report. That said, there have been some changes making her not 100% original including newer correct replacement Kluson tuners, newer studs tailpiece and bridge, and the pickups appear to have been swapped out with one reading Patent No and the other unmarked. Pickup covers also show fresh solder joints and look like aged nickel replacements and the guitar has been re fretted as well. Perhaps the most idiotic thing done is that someone over the years repositioned the bridge screw posts for reasons long gone and probably never very good to begin with. My feeling is that the screws should be reset and the other holes doweled in properly, stained, and lacquer repaired to effect a good repair there. A bit of typical cracking close to the jack. Finally, it does appear that this baby was originally fitted with a Bigsby tailpiece and later converted to a stoptail. Not a mint and untouched example for sure but you should play and hear this damn thing and hold her in your arms! Amber waves of sunburst, lovely finish checking, honeyed binding and uber cool! Pretty easy to see what the excitement is about with these early 335s. A dedicated restorer could undoubtedly put humpty dumpty back together and assemble the original parts necessary to get this guy back to 100% but my sense is that she's a pretty fine one just as she sits today and is going to make someone a pretty darn fine looking, playing, and sounding Contact us to request additional pictures, set up a Skype session, or if you have any questions about the item, shipping, or payment!
