What we think:
This special edition from GMS is a truly wonderful drum. The shell is a one piece walnut with maple reinforcement rings, finished with a nice lacquer shine. The hardware is clean and snug, rounding out this great snare.
This drum produces a dense, dry sound, accented with some well-rounded highs due to the maple rings. This drum displays wonderful sensitivity at a variety of tunings, and I honestly couldn’t find a way to make it sound bad. Trust me, this drum will love you right back.

The sound of the Walnut is darker than the Maple. It has a deeper pitch but a good crack. Walnut has body and a full range of frequencies. <p>
GMS bearing edges utilize a 45-degree cut on the inside of the shell and a shallow 45-degree counter cut on the outside. The throw-off and butt system was designed to be simple, trouble free, and effective. The snare drum features 20 strand heat treated high carbon steel snare wire. Hoops are 2.3mm steel triple flanged. This drum will ship with an Evans coated G1 top, and 300 gauge snare
