  • Description: This is an original rare LEFT handed Gretsch Jet Firebird. The chambered double cutaway mahogany body features a red top and black back and sides. The top is triple bound (wbw), while the ebony fretboard and the headstock are single bound. The fretboard has 23 frets and thumbprint inlays. The pickguard is black. This Gretsch sports gold plated hardware, a bent flat arm Burns tremolo with a US pat #67970, and two Filter Tron pickups with patent numbers 2892371. There are three knobs: one master tone and two volume. A standby switch is on the lower bout and a tone and pickup selector switch are on the upper bass bout. A "T roof" Gretsch logo is engraved on the black headstock. There is light finish checking on the top, sides and back, one crack on the top binding, and mild belt nicks scattered on the back and edges. Some areas of the gold plated hardware shows wear and there is a 3" x 5/8" piece of black tape on one of the back/side edges of the instrument. This is a rare find for the "lefty" collector. As far as we can determine this is the only left-handed Gretsch 6131 from 1963.
