1967 Gretsch Country Gentleman
Last Year before Baldwin Bought Gretsch and ruined it.
Excellent, Original, Complete
Typical Gretsch Binding Rot
Doesn't Affect Playing
Unusually Good Sounding Gent

Vintage 1967 Gretsch Chet Atkins Country Gentleman in excellent original condition.
It has the usual binding rot that mid 1960s Gretsch seem to have. See pictures.
This does not affect the play at all.
I've had several 1950s and 1960s Country Gents through the years, and this one plays and sounds the best of them all.
Pickups and Electronics work well and sound great. Neck is straight with no issues.
Gold plating more worn on neck pickup than anywhere else. Most of the Gold looks really good.
I got it from the original owner who had it stored since the mid 1970s.
Original case is clean and looks great.
I cleaned the rosewood fret board and and conditioned it with butcher block oil and polished the frets.
Cleaned the body and hardware, installed a new set of SIT 10 to 48 nickel wound strings, set the playing action low, and it plays really great! Sounds great! Get that George Harrison thing going on.

In 1967 Gretsch was sold to Baldwin Piano Co, and soon after, the factory was moved, and the entire product line suffered as a result.
"Baldwin Era" Gretsch are regarded as badly as "Norlin Era" Gibsons. Not good.
So 1967 was the last year of Original Gretsch Production. And this guitar is an early 1967 model.
Today, all Gretsch are Made in Japan (or elsewhere in Asia). Or in a "Custom Shop". Right.

Get a real one like George Harrison played.
