If you want the George Harrison 6128 but don't want his "signature" on the truss rod cover (and want to save over $1000.00), this is it. Made in 2004 this G6128TSP (not to be confused with the more recent G6128TDS) is the guitar that was offered by Gretsch as the "faithful reproduction of a 1957 Duo Jet guitar made famous by the Beatles in their Hamburg and Cavern days". Since they had no official deal with the Harrisons, Gretsch couldn't give it the "GH" suffix or the "signature", thus the lower price.
It includes distinctive appointments and modifications found on Harrison’s original 1957 Gretsch Duo Jet, which he purchased secondhand in the very early 1960s. The legendary guitarist often referred to this as his “first real decent guitar”.
These include a lightweight mid-’50s-style chambered body, arched maple top, mahogany back and sides (natural on this one), and one-piece mahogany neck, Bigsby® B3C tailpiece (sorry, no black Phillips head tremolo arm pivot bolt, and offset strap button on lower bout).
Other features include aged three-ply body binding (not aged on the GH), single-ply white neck and headstock binding, 22-fret rosewood fingerboard with 12” radius and 1957 specific hump-block pearloid inlays, two single-coil DynaSonic™ pickups, vintage-style “rocking bar” bridge with ebony base (rosewood on the GH), silver plexi pickguard, chrome-plated Grover® V98CM Sta-Tite™ tuners, on the instrument that the Gretsch “G” arrow control knobs, chrome-plated hardware, Harrison’s signature on the truss rod cover and a premium black case.
Also included are the "Gretsch Guitar Guarantee" certificate, the "Your GRETSCH Guitar Guide" pamphlet and the "TELLING YOU HOW to get peak performance from this ultra-modern Twin-Pickup Electric Spanish Guitar" pamphlet.

This beauty is virtually unplayed. It still has the protective plastic covering on the control plates and pickguard. But it plays and sounds so sweet that the day it came in I was tempted to take it to an open mic. With great restraint I resisted. I shouldn't be the one to put the 1st nick in this guitar.
Make yourself and the only I-talian born and bred in southern Georgia happy. Own this piece of modern retro history. And play it a lot.
