One of our favorite vintage bass models that we see coming through the shop are the late ‘70s/early ‘80s Guild B-302s. Not only were these fine basses built down the road from us in beautiful Westerly, RI but they also have a combination of feel, look, and tone that just hits us right in our sweet spot! From the growling Guild single coil pickups to the super-comfortable thru-neck design to the unique body shape and excellent finishes these fine B series basses are nearly impossible to top! This particular one sports a difficult to find white finish. It is extremely light compared to the other B-302s we’ve seen, weighing in at a hair over 9 lbs. As mentioned the single coil pickups have the perfect bite to them, making it an excellent bass for heavier rock, punk, doom metal, noise rock, and/or grunge. They have a great aggressive tone to them, especially in the bridge position. It has the original large Guild knobs and Schaller tuning machines. The neck has a wide and flat radius, making it an excellent bass for the long and skinny fingered player such as myself. The action is slightly on the higher side so anyone looking for the strings to be flat against the board should search elsewhere. The frets are a bit worn; they still have some play left but a re-fret may allow the action to come down further and alleviate the mild buzzing on the high frets. The finish is in great shape with some light yellowing especially on the back and minor playwear. Unfortunately (for us) the B-302s do not stick around the shop for long so make sure you pick this one up before it’s gone! Includes original hard shell case.
