Description

From the earlier days of the Guild Guitar Company while still under its original ownership in Westerly, RI. The G-37 has a unique place in American guitar history, nothing else quite like it from anyone. It’s a dreadnaught with maple back and sides, maple being a wood Martin never used for dreadnaughts. It's also got an arched back to go with its traditional spruce top and while other American makers had a few maple models, some with arched backs, none of the arched-back models were dreadnaughts. When I first opened my store in 1969 Guild was one of the two brands of guitars l carried, along with Martin. This particular G-37 has one of my old decals on the back of the peghead indicating that it may well have been sold as new at my place over fifty years ago. It's a rare model, with a unique wonderful tone, and I’m always so happy to come across a really nice one to have for sale. Its action is tops as just gone over by us here in our own shop; Brazilian rosewood bridge and rosewood fingerboard (might be Brazilian too); Honduran mahogany neck with perfect lacquer finish; finish on the top, back, and sides with lovely patina. A fifty-year-old American guitar for the ages, from our house to yours. $1795 w/hsc
