  • Description: SN: 549 Slope shouldered, 12-fret dreadnought built by one of the leading mid-sized lutherie shops around. The styling is quite elegant and the finish details are meticulous. After ten years of seasoning, this one is still in drop dead mint condition. The body is made with Honduran mahogany back and sides and the top is an upgraded Adirondack spruce instead of the typical Sitka. The trim is maple, the rosette is a custom abalone inlay, and the top is finished in a stunning sunburst with the warm tones of a vintage Gibson. The 12-fret neck allows the ebony bridge to be position more toward the center of the lower bout and the internal bracing is a prewar style forward X that is hand scalloped. The result is a large, round, warm tone with power and punch. The nut is 1 23/32” similar to the transitional neck that Martin used in ’39 with 2 7/32 string spacing at the saddle. It’s a great feeling neck profile that falls in between the heft of the prewar martins and the more modern neck of the wartime Martins. The fingerboard is ebony with snowflakes and the headstock veneer on this one is a custom mahogany to match the back and sides. The package is completed with top of the line Waverly tuners (the Grover G-98 repros), an inlaid back zipper stripe, and a vintage-style tortoise shell patterned pickguard. Overall, a beautiful guitar that is instantly captivating and hard to put down. It comes with its original tweed TKL case. This guitar is not currently on site but if you email your questions, either the owner or I will get back to you promptly.
