Description: The TDR is H & D's take on a traditional rosewood dreadnought. The guitar has solid Indian rosewood back and sides, solid sitka spruce top, an ebony board and bridge and appointments (like herringbone top purfling and slotted diamonds and squares position markers) like a vintage Martin D-28. The quality of the rosewood and spruce is excellent, the top showing very tight grain and excellent quarter. The top bracing is forward shifted scalloped X pattern giving the guitar big volume and a nice open sound. This particular example is in excellent condition overall, structurally sound and cosmetically very clean. The pickguard shows some signs of flat picking but there are virtually no signs that the flat pick ever touched the spruce. The mahogany neck shows no wear to the finish, it is straight with a perfect neck angle and shows perfect relief. Frets have just the slightest hint of play wear but nothing that requires any attention now or in the near future. The top and back are crack free, the treble side has one short hairline crack at the waist, about 3" in length, that has been glued and cleated. The guitar plays with action set for flat picking at 7/74" at the low E 12th fret and 6/64" at the high E, under tension of medium gauge. There is a proud 1/8" ( little more on the bass side) of saddle showing so there's plenty of room to bring the action down if desired. As it is the guitar plays great for rhythm and bluegrass flatpicking with no buzz anywhere on the neck and the intonation is good all over. The guitar can be fingerpicked comfortably for vocal accompaniment type use or folky play. Lower action would most likely be desired for fingerstyle play. The 1 3/4" nut and 2 1/4" pin spacing make the guitar's neck very comfortable, specs that will feel familiar to fans of the D-28V or D-18V as well as the GE models. The guitar's has a big voice that holds up well under an aggressive flat picking attack and is equally satisfying and articulate when played fingerstyle. Plenty of bass but with a very lively midrange and lively, thick trebles. Comes with the original tweed hardshell case. More pics available on request. $2250
