Description

Up for your down low consideration today we have a pristine 1979 Kramer DMZ 5000, featuring their iconic, rock steady aluminum neck and laminated body construction.

Introduced in 1976, early models like this one featured the trademark "tuning fork head" aluminum reinforced necks with a fretboard made of Ebonol—material similar to one used in bowling ball production.

Other features of the necks included aluminum dots, and a zero fret. Gary Kramer's inserts, set in epoxy, were usually walnut or maple. The bodies are made of two different tone woods, made of high grade Walnut and Maple.

The hardware comes from a known quality brand: Schaller M4 Tuning machines and bridge and DiMarzio pickups. The bass also features custom-made strap pins and aluminum cavity covers.

Plugged in, this Kramer DMZ 5000 bass feels like an old friend with monstrous earth shaking swagger due in no small part to the OEM DiMarzio pickups The Dimarzio Model J sitting in the bridge position delivers the signature warmth and roundness of the famous Fender Jazz Bass. However, it also offers increased power and hum cancellation, which work together to really emphasize this basses resonant character. you can achieve everything from tight punch to a more woody voice by just adjusting the bass's tone control.

Accurately reproducing the sound of the bass, with added gain and punch, is the DiMarzio Model P up front in the middle position. This hum-canceling design aims to get your tone to cut through the band without sacrificing the low end, the most important frequencies for punch and presence. The Model P pickup gives you gutsy midrange for inducing growl when you really lay into it and push the bass hard.

The original case is included, however the left and right spring latches have lost the part that bites in to hold them closed. These can be replaced, and the case does stay closed with the middle latch alone.
