  • Description:

This 000-18 is a warm one in exceptionally nice cosmetic condition.  Its Sitka spruce top has a fairly wide grain and has the classic dark-honey look that many ‘50s Martins take on (the darkness of the top is a hallmark of Sitka, in fact, and sets it apart from the lighter Adirondack spruce).  There are no cracks on the top.

In fact, there are no visible repaired cracks anywhere on the guitar.  The tuners and bridge are original.  The saddle and nut may have been replaced, however.  This one has had a refret as well, with medium-sized frets.

Unusually, this 000 appears not to have had a neck reset.  Its action is a bit high but still comfortable, and the guitar is very playable on its classic soft V-shaped neck.  As such, it’s especially responsive to flatpicking in volume and attack.  Overall, it has a rather loud, throaty sound that is very pleasant, making this an exceptional-looking guitar as well as a nice player.
