Martin / 1963 D-28

At first glance, some may think that something is a little strange. Some may think it looks a little strange at first glance.

This is a D-28 made in 1963.
The year 1963 is the year before the factory was expanded at Martin, and it is also a popular year among enthusiasts.

The head is not quite right at first glance, but this one has been reshaped to be more angular. We have some pictures on our website comparing this head with other '63 heads, so please take a look if you like.
The pegs have also been replaced with waffle-back Cruson tuners, indicating that it has been modified to older specifications.

The bracing has been scalloped.
It is likely that someone who had this in the past asked a craftsman to modify it to achieve a pre-war style.
Considering the head shape, it makes some sense.

It is not a collectible vintage guitar, but the convincing Hakaranda side back is unbearable.
The powerful grain of the wood runs vigorously and has an atmosphere that modern guitars cannot produce.

The sound is also very vintage.
The scalloped bracing gives the guitar a fuller sound overall, and combined with the colorful tone of the Hakaranda, it has a very fast and lively feel.

The pickguard has been replaced with an oversprayed tortoiseshell pattern, the same as the original. The bridge has also been repositioned.

The overall appearance of the guitar has been over-lacquered, but the above modifications have been done a long time ago, so it looks cool and does not lose its vintage atmosphere.

It is also surprising that there are no cracks or crack repairs after so much work.

The neck was reset by a craftsman who specializes in vintage Martin setups after it arrived at our store, so it plays great. No need to worry about maintenance right after you buy it.

This guitar is the perfect player's item.
