This is a 1969 square-rod period piece made of Hakaranda wood.

Famous acoustic guitar 'D-28'.

The body of this guitar is made of Hakaranda, which has a wild look with its tightly packed grain.
Black pickguard (replacement), mechanically stamped S/N, old style head logo, large size Hakaranda plate, and Grover 102 pegs with 'PAT PEND' engraving.

The pickguard has been reupholstered, but the endpins/bridge pins are original with black dots. There is no strap pin installed. The finish is also original with no cracks or repairs.
There are some scratches and weather checks on the painted surface, but it has a stately vintage appearance.

As for the repair history, it can be confirmed that the top surface of the bridge has been scraped and corrected.
The string height is about 2.2mm under the 6th string at the 12th fret and about 2.2mm under the 1st string, and the saddle height is about 2.5mm to 3.0mm, in good playing condition.

The long, glossy sustain that is typical of the Hakaranda body is very attractive. Just a few strokes of the chord is all it takes to charm you.
