Description

An absolutely superb Brazilian rosewood Martin D-28, and with a fabulous handful of a neck too. This has got to be one of the very last production Brazilian Martins ever. It has a serial number very early in the year, which means that it was started mid-to-late 1969; Martin took four or five moths to complete a guitar in those days and the dating of the serial numbers corresponded to the shipping date, as opposed to the start date of the production process. So….. The condition of this particular Martin is nothing short of miraculous, looking like it was never used at all, which is belied by the fact that there is a very tiny amount of fret wear showing. This is called careful playing at the outset, and a whole lotta years of careful storage in the ensuing decades. No cracks, no scratches, no issues of any kind, other than the typical black pickguard of the period having done the usual, and having recently been extremely cleverly replaced with a tortoise-type one that’s so good it almost fooled me. Now the tone, it’s everything you want in one of these, and more. Bright, huge, and clear; all you Martin Dreadnaught nuts out there know exactly what I’m talking about. Bottom line: finding another 1960s Brazilian rosewood D-28 as great as this, in any respect let alone all of them, is not about to happen. $7995 w/hsc
