A popular model reproducing the vintage D-28, which was regrettably discontinued.

Martin / 2005 D-28 Marquis

The "D-28 Marquis" was introduced in 2004, following in the footsteps of the HD-28 and Golden Era.
The "D-28 Marquis" is a detailed rendition of a vintage D-28 from the 1930s, and is an attractive model that is well worth owning for a lifetime, even for acoustic guitar enthusiasts who yearn for the original.

Ford-shifted scalloped X-bracing, butterbean open-back tuners, and cell binding with ivoroid are very vintage-like and irresistible.

The specification is from 1934 to late 1934, when the 14th fret joint began to be used.
One of the most impressive D-28 players of the same era for me is Tony Rice. He used a 1935 D-28 as his favorite machine, and it is famous that he got it from Clarence White.
The serial number "58957" is also applied to the title of the album.
The D-28 is a pre-war style D-28, and it is a great instrument for playing all over the fretboard.

The history of the D-28 itself proves that it is expected to play an active role in a wide range of music scenes, not only in bluegrass, but also in rock, folk, and pop music.

The pre-war style is the first page in the history of the D-28.
If you have been hesitant to purchase a D-28, this is a unique opportunity for you to do so.

[Condition/Impressions]
The most noticeable points are the scratches on the buckle and the strap pins.
The torque of the pegs is tight, but there are no tuning problems.
Other than that, the overall condition of the instrument remains clean considering its age of almost 20 years.

The frets and nut have been replaced after arrival, so you can enjoy this instrument at its best performance.
There is no need to worry about maintenance in the immediate future.

The sound has a fast startup and colorful midrange.
The tone is voluptuous, open, and superb.

[Condition.]
The neck is straight with no chatter or clogging. The string height at the 12th fret is set at 2.5mm on the 6th string side and 2.0mm on the 1st string side in comfortable playing condition.
The saddle protrusion is approximately 3mm-3.5mm.
