  • Description: A throwback to the earliest Dreadnought, the Martin-made Ditson long body flat top guitar, the D-28S model was the first of any 'old-style' guitars reintroduced by C.F. Martin. There were 251 made in 1971, and these remain fairly rare guitars today. The D-28S has all the appointments of a '71 D-28, including rosewood back and sides, spruce top, ebony fingerboard and bridge. The neck is a slotted headstock, 12-fret affair, which measures 1 7/8" at the nut with carved volute at neck/headstock joint; string spacing is 2 5/16" across the saddle. Scale length is 25.4". The action measure 5/64" and 7/64", and the guitar is comfortable to play. The guitar is structurally sound. The tuners are replaced. There are various nicks and dings, and some finish crazing on the top and a few small cracks appear to have been glued on the lower back, but you can only see them under UV light. The original rosewood bridge plate is in excellent shape, and braces are tight. A strap button is installed in the heel. The frets show some wear in the first position. Fingerpickers enjoy these guitars, and this one produces a very big and thumpy sound in the bass, and rings sweet and true in the mids and trebles. Comes with a hard case.
