Here's an interesting guitar--a 1970 D-35 that was retopped iwith a herringbone binding in 1980 by Stephen Carr. If it's the same Steve Carr that we think it might be, he was a well-known NYC luthier during the 70's who designed some of the custom guitars for Kiss
