  • Description: The Martin D-45 Gene Autry model earns notoriety on several different levels. While visiting the Gene Autry Museum, Chris Martin personally examined the original 1933, first ever made D-45. That instrument was custom ordered by Gene Autry and appeared often on the silver screen. This led to the first ever Martin Signature Edition of a living performer AND the most accurate reissue of a vintage Martin the company had ever produced. The year was 1994 and only 66 of these beautiful instruments were made. Within the 66 made two different designs were produced. One is as we have here with the name spelled out down the fingerboard in large Mother-of-Pearl letters, the other with snowflakes on the fingerboard and the name small @ the 15th fret. Specs: Dreadnaught 12- Fret, Solid Sitka Spruce Top, Solid Brazilian Rosewood Back & Sides, Solid Mahogany ā€Vā€ shaped Neck. Ebony Bridge & Fingerboard. Fossilized Ivory: Nut @ 1 7/8, long saddle& bridge pins. Top bracing is of 5/16ā€ Sitka spruce, scalloped and forward shifted. The headstock shape is square slotted, square taper, Brazilian overlay / Torch Inlay and Martin Decal on the back side. The tuning gears are Waverly Nickel with Butterbean knobs. 45 Style Inlay all around. The case is a Martin 540 Geib covered in real leather. One strum is all it takes to know this instrument steps up to the plate tonally, the Brazilian is very evident to my ear, offering a glassy crispness, warmth & depth. This instrument is MINT. A new one could not be any cleaner. The woods are of high quality with the Sitka Spruce Top being tight grained and feathery, the dark Brazilian is beautifully figured. A note of reference * I see where one of the 66 recently sold at Christies Auction House for $25.500. Martin says to build this guitar today would be well in excess of $50,000. This numbered Brazilian Martin will make a great addition to any collection or perhaps to a singing cowboy. Consignment, Sorry no trades accepted. *Due to the CITES Act and the more recently imposed and enforced Lacey Act, the tons of paperwork and fees required, I am no longer willing to attempt to export a Brazilian Rosewood guitar.* Thank you for looking, Tommy Allen, Atlanta Premier Guitars, Conyers Ga 770-860-8551 www.atlantapremierguitars.com atlpremierguitar@bellsouth.net
