It's got a 27" scale and can be tuned as a baritone or standard. Oh yea, it's 18" at the lower bout too. The Express is one of Bill's more incongruent designs - traditional art Deco™ look (large stairstep headstock, tons of binding) mixed with modernist elemants (Centural-like soundholes, no fretmarkers). Sonically it's pretty amazing. The sound is super loud with very strong bass and great articulation. Very airy and open sounding. The playability is superb as long as you don't mind the extra long scale. The last setup was done by Steve Hayes of Colonia, NJ and the work is masterful. The action measures 1 mm treble and 1 + mm bass at the 12th fret an she plays buzz free. Now that's comfortable action! Take the beautifully crafted soundholes, super flamey back and top it off with a warm Amber finish and you've got yourself a real stunner that just happens to be a real player too!
