  • Description: Musima was a government owned music instrument company in the East German State (under the soviets). The home area was Markneukirchen - home to the best German musical instrument makers for hundreds of years. You can find cellos and violins worth thousands and still being played by famous musicians. The soviet approach was to put all the instrument makers together in a single company (they stayed in their traditional workshops - but did business through a single management). Pressure to make money in the late soviet era forced them to make some fairly cheesy guitars, but they were still also making good quality stuff at the same time. I do not know the company who were absorbed into the MUSIMA brand as guitar makers, but they are said to have been making guitars in Markneukirchen for a long time. They may be related to FRAMUS, and MARTIN who made guitars there. Did you also know that Martin guitars are made by a family who left Markneukirchen and went to America ? They claim they learned their trade in the Markneukirchen guitar trade and made the same guitars by the same method when they arrived in the USA. A true one of a kind Classical Guitar.
