C. 1940 National Sonora Sunburst

Circa 1940 National Sonora in very good condition. This National is all original except for a replacement rosewood bridge, an exact replica transparent pickguard that was made in house, and a standard 1/4” input jack that replaces the original amphenol connector. This rare model has a Regal made body and was constructed with a solid spruce top, solid maple back and sides, a mahogany neck, and a Brazilian rosewood fingerboard with pearloid and abalone parallelogram inlays. The Sonora is likely the first two pickup archtop guitar and features a blade style single coil in the neck position and a very early example of a hum cancelling pickup in the bridge which differs from Gibsons later offerings in that it's wired in parallel rather than series. It has one knob for volume and another to blend the balance between the pickups. The neck measures 1 11/16’” at the nut and has a depth of 0.93” at the first fret and 1.38” at the 12th fret. It has a 25.5” scale and weighs 6.72 lbs. This is a truly rare, great playing guitar with a unique sound and extremely cool Art Deco styling. It comes with a hardshell case.
