  • Description: A very interesting mandolin that may be attributed to the Italian Guild® of luthiers working in NYC in the early part of the 20th Century. Specifically, its fluted bracing corresponds to Italian-guild instruments by Spadea. The Brazilian rosewood back is quite dramatic and measures 10" across the bout. The top is spruce, with a handsome inlaid pickguard. The body is bound top and back. The neck is mahogany, bound in white with a BRW overlay across the headstock. Beltone is inlaid in a pearl diamond. Scale length is a hair over 13". The mandolin appears to be in near excellent original condition with the exception of the bridge and a small repair under the pickguard under the upper treble bout. Action is set at about three - four sixtyfourths at the twelfth fret. The mandolin plays nicely and produces a sweet, ringing tone, more on the mellow side than brash or piercing. Comes with a rough old soft case.
