  • Description: 1973 Rickenbacker 4001 bass 'CHECKERBOARD' binding model in jetglo black finish with nonoriginal but correct-era Rickenbacker hardshell case. This is a rare and super collectable vintage Ric from April of 1973 that features the following: rare Checkerboard binding, large fret inlays that reach both sides of the fingerboard, really attractive Jetglo black finish, toaster Ric pickup, and vintage Ric case. This is a Killer player Ric as well as being very desirable. Condition wise, this 4001 is in overall very good to excellent condition. There are various dings, scuffs, and scratches from many years of use - but this is to be expected from a great player Ric. If you are looking for a mint example of a checkerboard 4001, this is not it. If you are looking for a very collectable and PLAYABLE vintage 4001 in great condition, then this is it. This bass has honest play wear because it is a great bass; it has that great natural RelicĀ®, broken in vibe to it. The bridge is a newer Ric bridge - correct for the bass, but not the original. The toaster pickup is a reissue Ric toaster pickup, although it's very difficult for even an expert to tell. This Ric at one time had a badass bridge, but that has since been corrected and the correct type Ric bridge is now in place. Under the bridge is a filled and repaired area where the badass was - but it is invisible with the Ric bridge on there. These are all small details that matter to buyers, and in the spirit of complete disclosure - we want you to know. This is a really great player and very collectable model. Please call for an in hand description - we can also send addition photos if you wish. Thanks.
