  • Description: This is just amazing...... Here is a prototype from the 1930's by Rickenbacker and Kay of an upright fretted bass. Early Horseshoe magnet 4 pole pickup. A little larger than a cello. Bound Ebony fingerboard with bound round sound-hole and top and back binding. This could possibly be the first example of a fretted electric bass in American history. It was written up in the Sept. 2005 issue of Bass Player Magazine. We haven't seen anything like this before, and this bass was displayed for several years in the Making Music Museum, (NAMM), in California.........We are entertaining offers, included will be the Museum documentation and written history.
