  • Description: NEWS FLASH! AFTER SEEING THE NEW "IT MIGHT GET LOUD" DOCUMENTARY FEATURING JIMMY PAGE, THE ORIGINAL HIWATT CUSTOM THIS AMP WAS BASED ON WAS CLEARLY SEEN IN THE BACKGROUND ALONG WITH PAGE'S MARSHALL STILL IN USE TO THIS DAY!!... Ever seen one of these? This new JPP50 (James Patrick Page) in custom white hand made by ROYAL Amplification was derived from Page's custom spec Hiwatt used from 1969-1971 on Zep's earliest extensive touring years and was the amp Page used in the 1970's legendary Royal Albert Hall shows. Though firmly based on a Hiwatt, this amp's circuit sounds nothing like a typical Hiwatt but rather combines the driven tube distortion of a Plexi Marshall with the chime and sheer volume of an older Hiwatt. No expense was spared on this custom ordered beauty! Every upgrade available was utilized as can be seen: NOS mustard caps as in vintage Hiwatt+Marshall amps, NOS electrolytics used throughout with period correct vintage OEM tube sockets, military grade (or mil-spec) PEC pots, balance foot switch and Bulgin plugs. Transformers are custom wound Heyboers and another extremely cool feature of this amp is the volume cut "balance control" knob activated by footswitch (included along with Bulgin power cable) allowing for pre-set volume parameters... perfect for when more db's are needed on a solo or the amp needs to be tamed for milder settings (home playing etc). This is one of the loudest 50W amps I've ever heard rendering drive, distortion, chime, sparkle and sustain that are truly magnificent! Certainly this amp will keep up in any live scenario and will surely make heads turn in its custom white one off head box. Needless to say, this amp is mint and the cost of ordering this screamer was well over $3400 new... not to mention wait time! Save yourself some time and money... Much more info, price lists, as well as clips are available from the Royal Amp site and the Les Paul forum (search Jimmy Page Hiwatt) has more pertinent interesting facts/photos. This nr.003 took a little over three months to receive and they're not cheap but you get what you pay for here...
