  • Description: This Circa 1962 black sparkle Silvertone Model 1448 guitar with an amp built in the case was designed by Nathan Daniel (Danelectro fame) and marketed by Sears. It was a cleverly designed entry level outfit. The body is likely made of plywood and masonite with white vinyl sidewalls. The guitar weights a mere 5 pounds. The fretboard is rosewood with 8 dot inlays and 18 frets. It is 1 5/8" at nut and the scale length is 23 1/2". The single pickup is made from an actual lipstick tube. Other features include a volume and tone control, rosewood bridge, paddle headstock, white masonite pickguard, six in a line tuners, and a bolt on neck anchored with two bolts. It's all original except a couple of the pickguard screws. The three watt amplifier is built into the end of the case. It has a 5 inch speaker with two tubes plus a rectifier that appear to be original. The case is black sparkle to match the guitar. There is very little wear on the guitar. There are a couple of paint dings on the headstock. All electronics work fine on both the guitar and amp. The guitar plays great. This is a fun piece of Nathan Daniels innovative design.
