Description

Offered is yet another amazing instrument from Ron Thorn, in this case, his take on the electric Spanish thinline semi-hollow guitar. I'm not sure how he does it, but Thorn manages to put something extra into each of his designs. This is a Maple laminate-based guitar, with the laminate material designed and created in-house by Thorn. This guitar weighs just 7.0 pounds and is superbly balanced. Size-wise, this guitar is very close to the dimensions of a Collings I-35 series, it's obvious competition. The neck on this guitar is Korina wood and the size of the neck, what Ron calls "Fat '59," and it's feel in your hands are simply amazing. The fretboard on this particular guitar is African Blackwood, a tone wood which appears and feels very similar to Ebony. The fretboard has a 24.75" string scale, 12" radius, 6105 fret wire and a 1.687" Tusq nut. For electronics, Thorn bestowed this guitar with a set of Wolftone "Dr. Vintage" humbuckers with nickel covers, along with VVT and a three way toggle. The tone is vintage Gibson ES, with lots of midrange bite and this guitar loves to be overdriven. This 2014 year guitar is in near mint condition with just the lightest of play and handling wear. It comes with it's original and uniquely-shaped TKL case, tools, paperwork and an extra set of control knobs. A new one will set you back $8K or so. Get this near new beauty for $2K less. With this guitar's build quality, cosmetics, playability and tone, it's hard to put down. Try one, you'll love it!
