On Hold!
Description

Since I'm in Florida, I don't get the full eclipse blackout, but we do have a weird haze that has quieted the birds for a while. It's ironic that on this day, I'm listing what is referred to as "The Devil Bass" from the Matsumoku factory in Japan. If there's anything those guys did well, it was to produce odd and unusual instruments. This particular bass does not disappoint.

Folks, we do not have a child's toy here- this is strictly a man's bass that clocks in at 34" scale length with 24 frets and weighs in at 10 lbs, 15 oz. Now I cut my teeth on what felt like a 13 lb Stingray back in the day, but the years have passed and I angle for lighter fish these days. That said, if you want to move the furniture around in a room, this bass will handily do that for you.

The twin custom split-coil humbuckers are as growly as a freshly awakened grizzly bear. I think the weight, combined with the long scale lends to a tight and focused tone. Grab a 1mm pick and this bass lights up like a Roman candle. Dial the rear pickups in and you get a sweet and mid-rangy bark that will cut through any guitar-muddied mix.

The 18-volt active electronics work properly and the red light signaling weak batteries is present and working as well. The third toggle switch, which seems to act as an on/off or kill switch is slightly bent and rather than take the chance of breaking it, we have left it as it is.

The bass is clean and shows very little signs of playwear. We have detailed the bass, leveled and polished the frets and set it up. The neck feels substantial and you'll not want to put the bass down once you really dig into it. There was no case when we bought the bass, so I made my boy 'Lil Drew throw in a new gigbag so the bass would be properly protected.

Please take a look at the photos, let us know if you have any questions and as always, we thank you for stopping by!
