Description: The Melody Maker was introduced in 1959 as Gibson's option for a solid body guitar at a lower price than the "Les Paul Jr". The guitar was mahogany, a one piece unbound neck, and straight and narrow head stock are unique to this Gibson. Originally fitted with a single coil pickup, this instrument has been upgraded with a "mini hunbucker" pickup. This guitar also features the full 24" 3/4" scale neck, and upgraded Schaller tuners, and nashville tuneomatic bridge and stop tailpiece. This guitar has been refinished in brown translucent, with some "whitening" of the finish. What caused this coloration curiosity we don't know. The guitar plays really nicely. If you have a "soft spot" like we do for older "niche" Gibson Guitars, this could be a great choice.
