    • We are located just off the 101 Freeway in Belmont, CA (20 miles south of San Francisco). From the north, exit fwy at Ralston, stay left to Harbor Blvd exit and make a left into the first driveway, proceed to the second set of buildings, make a left and look for us in Bldg. 121, Unit #5 (on right). From the south, exit freeway at Holly Ave. (San Carlos), make second right taking you back over the freeway, then a right on Industrial (2nd light). Proceed about .8 miles making right into drive just before Harbor. Proceed to 2nd Bldg on right: 121, Unit #5.
  • Bio: The California Guitars Story: I got my first Fender guitar when I was about twelve (a ‘63 tele custom) and though that guitar is long gone, it occupies a place in my imagination. As a builder, I focus on capturing the undeniable magic of the guitars of the ‘50s and early ‘60s. While each of our instruments is unique, our creative processes are largely informed by the legendary methods and artistry that have made those old guitars so desirable.
  • Brands: California Guitars (built by us). In addition we carry VVT Amplifiers, effects by Creation Audio Labs, select acoustic instruments from Blueridge, Kentucky, Gold Star, Gitane and Trinity College.
  • Comments: Any good guitar is a “conspiracy” of many little things, done well. Although we use the finest materials, parts and finishes available to us, our guitar feels and sounds like an “old friend” because it was created by an individual artisan whose work met this simple, but challenging standard: Until we clearly hear the “soul” of the old guitar, we keep working.
  • Policies:
    • Payment: We accept Visa, M/C, bank wire transfers, money orders, bank checks and PayPal. Due to additional processing and bookeeping, payment by credit card or Paypal will incurr a 2% handling fee. We will accept personal checks but must wait until check clears prior to shipping goods. Purchases by California residents shall be subject to 8.25% sales tax.
    • Shipping: We prefer to ship FEDEX Ground/Air/Int'l Air in most cases. All shipments shall be insured for the full amount of purchase (including sales taxes, if applicable, shipping and insurance). Shipping and insurance charges are the responsibility of the customer. International shipments, due to additional documentation shall incurr additional handling fees determined at the time of each shipment. All duties and taxes shall be the responsibility of the customer.
    • Returns: We ship all domestic guitar purchases on 48-hour approval. Customer may return the instrument by notifying California Guitars within the approval period. In event of a guitar return, customer agrees to pay all charges related to the round-trip shipping of the instrument. Sales of amplifiers, effects, accessories and all international sales are final and no return policy applies.
