Bio:
I'm not a dealer selling whatever the factory sends me. I'm selling the guitars I've personally chosen from the thousands I've played over the years. I've been buying & selling guitars and amps since I was 12, steadily building my collection. Once it reached 150 pieces, I knew I had to start selling! I still love to buy great guitars, but that means selling other great guitars to make room for the new ones.
Brands:
I favor: - PRS, especially Custom 24's with trems. - Less-common PRS variants, especially with trems: semi-hollow Custom 24s; McCarty Customs w/trem, Orignal Custom Soapbars, Swamp Ash Specials, etc. - Terry C. McInturff (TCM) Guitars. Terry is one of the world's great luthiers and his guitars are treasures. I've owned over a dozen of them. When I decided to let some go, all but one was snapped up quickly. These days I look for one-off or custom-order pieces. - Hamer, especially Mirages and older Standards & Sunbursts. I think used Hamers, especially those with cosmetic flaws, are dollar-for-dollar the best guitars you can buy on this planet. - Gibson Les Paul Historics. Nothing will ever have the same vibe as a real 1958-60 'Burst, but the Historics are truly wonderful guitars. - Gibson built a LOT of guitars in the '70s and early '80s, and perhaps most of them were marginal. But no doubt there were some real keepers mixed in. I pick through hundreds of these every year and buy the best. A better-than-average 1970's Gibson can be a killer vintage piece at a very affordable price. I also work my way through tube amplifiers, especially Fender Vintage ("real") Blackfaces and various reissues.
Comments:
I'm happy to ship your guitar with different pickups than those currently in it. I have a LOT of pickups available, to change the look or sound of any guitar I sell. I especially try to find good zebra and double-cream humbuckers; I think they look nicer with most flame or quilt tops. I can either keep the removed pickups, or include them along with your guitar in case you want to keep your options open. Cost of pickup changes is based on relative value of the pickups being removed and those being installed.
