Here is a new twist on the mandolin builder's art: a 2-point, in blond, but with the saddle placed at the widest part of the body. Notice the wider headstock, and the redesigned f-holes, which give the instrument more volume and bite.
The binding is koa, the top spruce and the body fine maple. It is by a New Mexico builder, who calls the Santa Fe area home.

Well, our good friends in Lewiston have out done themselves. Like no other 00 that we have ever seen! The body is of Acacia-yes you heard it : Acacia, with some of the most intricate grain patterns in the known world. the top is Italian spruce-descriptions fail me. Tonal comparisons haven't been found, yet, but the notes ring out clearly, sweetly and with depth.

Yes, friends, this Brazilian beauty has seen its share of performances and jam sessions and is ready for more. The figures in the wood nearly speak for themselves. It has had the requisite neck reset, and other minor repairs that the 'wood is err to', and is ready to go. In the past a Fishman pickup was added, under the saddle. The work was very cleanly done.

Serial number 64018, came to us with several other period instruments. This one played the best. It has 30 hooks securing the rim and skin head to the body. The dowel stick looks to have evidence of a clamp upon which could be mounted a resonator, although neither, clamp nor resonator is available today. Just in and unpacked, but not yet photographed. Here is the terrific result of the collaboration between Eric Schoenberg and Recoding King. This is the Engelmann and Mahogany new classic; with a 1 3/4" neck width, a 25.4 ", and a cutaway that meets the body at the 12th fret. It was inspired by all the great parlor guitars of the past, and is available in the 0 or 00 size.

These two came out of Chicago together, and they are going to stay together. They sound great-true to their roots. All necessary maintenance has been done-strings on the guitar, and filter caps and power cord on the amp.
