The guitar has solid Indian rosewood back and sides, solid sitka spruce top, an ebony board and bridge and appointments (like herringbone top purfling and slotted diamonds and squares position markers) like a vintage Martin D-28. The quality of the rosewood and spruce is excellent, the top showing very tight grain and excellent quarter. The top bracing is forward shifted scalloped X pattern giving the guitar big volume and a ni...

It has had its top replaced at some time in the past, I do not know who did the work but it was very nicely done and appears to have retained the original binding and herringbone. The replacement top is red spruce and is braced in the pre-war forward shifted locations, scalloped, and with the tone bars, finger braces and bridge plate notched into the X bracing. The carving of the bracing is in the manner of pre-war Martin work. It a...

This one has had a few cracks repaired over its lifetime and has been lightly oversprayed (professionally done, factory quality surface). The overspray has crazed evenly over the entire body. The solid brazilian rosewood back shows several repaired cracks and the sides are crack free, though the treble side has a small patch measuring about 1/4" by 3/4", possibly from a repaired jack hole. That repair is well do...

The body has the sort of "bell shape" that was also found on the Kalamazoo KG-11 but this guitar has a larger body than the KG-11, with a lower bout measuring 15 1/4" (slightly larger than a Martin 000). The scale length is 25 1/4" and the nut width is 1 13/16". The back and sides appear to be maple or birch, not sure which (the sides show some bird-eye figure so I'm guessing most likely Maple) and the top is solid red s...

Laminated mahogany back and sides with a lam spruce top, traditional X bracing, mahogany neck and rosewood fretboard and bridge. The guitar had on-board electronics when new but they no longer work, so a Dean Markley under saddle pickup with pre-amp has been installed but is not connected to the original on-board controls. The top is flat and the neck straight with an excellent angle. The action is ...
