This is a very rare guitar, these were only made in small quantities in the early 1970′s, and the two pickup version is even more rare!! These were made in England and were called the “London” so they wouldn’t be confused with the Dan Armstrong’s made by Ampeg. This one has beautiful Honduran Mahogany, a set neck, and two pickups that slide along a track so the player can adjust them for different sound. I learned about Stonetree Custom Guitars from Eric"Roscoe" Ambel, amazing pro guitarist/ producer in NYC. Eric plays Stonetree guitars and had a hand in helping to design some of their models. Really great sounding and playing Junior. Light weight, still vibrant trans red finish and an amazing 59 neck. One of those great 59 necks, not too big but not like the 60s, slight V and so comfortable to play on. Has a slight fracture in the front of the headstock that doesen't seem to go through and was most likely repaired a very long time ago. Frets still have a lot of life in them. Project 58 is a guitar Built by Mike Potvin of Potvin Guitars exclusively for us here at Mountain Cat Guitars. We wanted to produce a guitar inspired by My 1958 Les Paul Junior, make it out of the best possible materials available, yet keep it affordable. I wanted the neck to feel just like a guitar that was made by Gibson in 58, I sent my guitar to Mike and he reproduced the neck exactly. They are light, resonant, snappy and clear, just like they should be. Really sweet sounding Vega mandolin. These were called lute-mandolins at the time because of the unusual cylinder back which is a tone chamber adding to the bass response and overall volume. This one is on consignment, it has been in the owners family for generations. It hadn't been played in quite sometime and had a big top crack. We closed up the crack and secured it and now it is ready for some playing. Very warm, full sound. First year 1952 reissue. These have become collectable guitars over the years. The first year strat and tele reissues are thought to be better than the later ones because they were trying really hard to impress. True or not, this is a great tele, light, resonant, great neck. This is a really great sounding player 355.It is factory mono, without a varitone. The middle position is the cool out of phase position you could get with the varitone. The bigsby is added. It has a really solid headstock repair. Kinda hard to see it unless you know its there,it was nicely hidden. I tried to get a good picture of it.Two great sounding pat number pickups, one changed pot, the others seem to be original. Very clean 79 strat in that cool sienna sunburst they did during this period. Except for a few dings its pretty much mint. Not feather weight but not as heavy as most 79s. I have had alot of calls about this guitar so here is the story. It is consignment from a friend who bought it in 69 from his cousin who bought it new at Mannys on 48th street in NYC in 1967. When we took it apart to take pictures and check it out it seemed as if it had never been opened up. It has 66 pots which is common, and the pics should tell the rest of the story.
