This 1954 J-45 is an excellent playing and sounding Gibson flattop. It has a very comfortable neck profile that is typical of Gibson in the mid-'50s. Its neck is full and deep, but it is not nearly as substantial as the late-'30s and '40s and not as thin as the '60s. Its tone is distinctly J-45 - rich, resonant and warm. This very nice guitar has moderate finish checking, a filled strap button on neck heel, center-seam split - repaired with no cleats, a few very well repaired cracks, each without cleats: treble side lower bout of top, under pickguard to bridge, bass side by end pin. It all sounds worse than it looks. Powerful sound, great playability.

The 1927 00-45 is a pretty remarkable guitar. The sound is very full and
rich - a great example of a small body style paired with Brazilian
Rosewood. The bass presence is impressive, but definitely not as powerful as its dreadnought counterparts.

We have documentation of one incidence of major repair done by Martin.
According to the invoice, the guitar was received by Martin 08/15/89 and
shipped from Nazareth 02/05/90.
