Description

Here’s one you haven’t seen before and probably won’t again. A 1972 Alembic Series 1 Bass VI with a natural satin finish. This Bass VI was originally made for Jack Casady the bassist of Jefferson Airplane! He eventually sold it to Peter Kaukonen, who used it on tour with Johny Winter and Jefferson Starship. It was also played on the record Blows Against The Empire! All original, it’s only modification is the addition of a mute system to the bridge.

Wonderful three piece neck made of purpleheart, beech and walnut. Fantastic ebony fingerboard, beautiful Elm body with a natural finish. Original Alembic pick ups and wiring (PF-5 electronics). Powered by two 9v batteries instead of a power supply. The original power supply is not included. Two dummy coils in the control cavity instead of just one like many other Alembic instruments.

Definitely a one of a kind piece. It’s a rare example of a 70s Alembic Bass VI, built for the one and only Jack Casady and has only been owned by Bay area legends! Comes with a Replacement Value Statement and provenance from Alembic
