Description

Offered is this superb Semi-Hollow Tremolo model by talented luthier and craftsman Matt Artinger of Pennsylvania. I am a bit embarrassed to admit that this is the first Artinger guitar that I have experienced and I am just blown-away by it's quality, playability and tone. Matt builds just 30 or so guitars annually and each guitar is essentially a one-off. He uses the finest tonewoods and his artistry with wood results in guitars which are playable works of fine art.

This beautiful guitar has a 25" scale length like you would find on a Gibson and is constructed with a chambered piece of solid Mahogany topped with carved top made of figured Maple adorned with Matt's signature 'Cat's Eye' sound hole. Figured Koa is used for the body, neck and headstock binding. The Mahogany neck is reinforced with carbon fiber in addition to having an adjustable truss rod. The neck carve is a comfortable C-shape with depth measurements of .850" at the 1st fret, increasing to .970" at the 12th. The gorgeous fretboard is made of Ebony and has a 12" radius, medium frets and a 1-11/16" nut. The electronics consist of two Electric City RD-59 humuckers, a three-way toggle, a master volume and master tone, both with push/pull coil splitting. This guitar has a relatively rare (for an Artinger) tremolo bridge, in this instance a Wilkinson unit. The tuners are Gotoh 510 Minis with 1:18 ratios. The total weight of this beauty is just 7 pounds, five ounces!

This guitar was designed for medium (.11 gauge) strings, but I've set it up with .10's as that is what most customers prefer. It feels great strapped on and is nicely balanced. This is a very lively instrument with great playability and lots of resonance. Plug her in and the tone is a mix of ES-335 and LP and it sounds great whether cranked or clean. The combination of the semi-hollow construction, a tremolo bridge and humbuckers with coil splitting makes for an incredibly flexible guitar that can do most anything you need it to do.

This guitar was built in 2013 but you would think it was made last month. It is in near mint cosmetic condition and the frets show zero wear. This fabulous guitar comes in an equally superb Cedar Creek case along with the trem arm, tools and paperwork. To replace this guitar today with these upgrades would cost upwards of $6K, but you can get this near mint example for quite a bit less. This certainly will not be the last Artinger guitar that I invest in. A very, very nice semi-hollow electric indeed!
