Offered for sale;

1927 Bacon & Day: B&D Silver Bell No. 1 Tenor banjo serial number 18269.

This banjo is in very good condition. There is some wear and oxidation on the plating and brackets, some “belt rash” on the back. Generally the amount of patina showing the instrument has been played and enjoyed yet not abused.

Build features include a maple rim and resonator with 24 brackets, Silver Bell tone ring with 36 standard f-hole shapes cut out of the nickel plated integral flange. The headplate is inlaid with many dozens of pieces of mother of pearl forming wreaths and branches and leaves and flourishes with the words “B&D,” and then “Silver” and then “Bell” in large pearl script. The ivoroid-bound 19 fret ebony fingerboard features 9 varied design inlay patterns. The neck has a backstrap on the back down to the second fret, and there after the neck is five-pieces, 2 maple outer pieces with ebony/maple/ebony center strip for added stiffness and strength.

The original four “Grover Pat.” sealed gear tuners with grained ivoroid buttons remain as does the original Oettinger individually adjustable tailpiece and the original armrest.

This is a significant piece of prewar banjo evolution; the B&D Silver Bell No.1 is highly regarded for its beauty and simplicity.

This is one to really consider owning.

Original hard case included.

*Please note: we do our best giving descriptions of used pieces. We have found it impossible to describe every mark on an instrument or amp that is not in the "mint" category. Also, what's important to you may not be important to someone else. For example, you may say, "I don't care what it looks like as long as it plays or sounds well." Another person may say, "Body cosmetics are very important to me so tell me about every scratch, nick and blemish." So, please ask the questions that are most important to you. If you ask they will be answered. They are free and there's no limit. Additional photos can also be made available.

This is a specific item that is also being offered for sale in our brick & mortar location. It is possible that it has just been sold. Please ask if it is still available before purchasing.

*It is our policy to require a signature on delivery of all musical instruments. Please let us know if you prefer no signature required when ordering or we will automatically require a signature.

If you prefer your item to be sent without a required signature Imperial Guitar and the selected carrier can no longer be responsible for the security of the package once it has been delivered.
