SALE PENDING: Contemporary canon from the workbench of Bagnasco & Casati of Savona, IT, one of the finest shops building in the traditional prewar style today. This is a faithful reproduction/interpretation of a shade top 1936 Martin D-18 with all the signature features that came with that iconic guitar – forward-X scalloped bracing, ebony fretboard and bridge, rosewood headstock overlay, mahogany back and sides and full-moon harvested Alpine spruce, the European equivalent of Adirondack. Top and back are bound with faux tortoiseshell, simple but elegant b/w trim and rosette. Plain headstock with repro Waverlys. The neck captures the unique feels of the ’36; modified V with slightly bigger shoulders than the more widely known ’37. The fit and finish of this build is impeccable, particularly the finish which Andreas calls their new “thin-skin”. The response is tremendous and the new finish and neck profile may have a lot to do with it. The tone is open and woody already with a nice round sound on the bass end, strong mids, and chiming trebles. Sustain all day. This one has been presold but I have two other B&C models on order. Please inquire about availability and pricing.
