SALE PENDING:No SN: Friends, So much fun to have this guitar back in the shop to see first hand how superbly the tone has developed since I sold it new. This big guy can compete with the finest artisan D-18s I’ve had in the shop. For those not yet familiar with Bagnasco & Casati (Savona, IT) they are small batch craftsmen building prewar and wartime reproductions using period-correct techniques, glues, finishes and tonewoods. Every detail is handcrafted and meticulously executed. Their aesthetic sensibility produces gorgeous sunbursts and amber shade tops. This example is a reproduction of a 1936 D-18 with all the requisite features of that iconic model – forward-X scalloped bracing, ebony fretboard and bridge, rosewood headstock overlay, mahogany back and sides hot hide glue construction, and full-moon harvested Alpine spruce, the European equivalent of Adirondack. The neck carving accurately reflects the profile and heft of 1934/35/36. The guitar is set up for mediums with medium low action. There are three small touchups on the top where a second pickguard was removed, a 1" crack repair in the rim (nearly invisible); otherwise the guitar is in excellent condition. It’s a responsive guitar producing a big tone with a light touch. It has a lot of headroom when played aggressively. It’s super dynamic and capable of cutting and playing a big full rhythm. I’m enjoying having it back. Comes with its original hardshell case that is showing a little wear. On consignment.
