Description

Bourgeois guitars are built in Lewiston, Maine by a small cadre of craftsmen working under the direction of Dana Bourgeois. They build just 400 or so guitars annually and while they have a decidedly vintage Martin style to them, Bourgeois guitars have their own distinctive voice and are engineered to Dana's own modern standards. Offered here is this marvelous Bourgeois OMC Custom built in 2015.

This beautiful OM little instrument has a Swiss Spruce top, back and sides made from what Dana calls "Pao Rosewood" with a cutaway body option and is constructed with natural hide glue. The 14 fret Mahogany neck has a 25-1/2" string scale, 1-3/4" bone nut and 2-5/16" string spacing. Cosmetic touches include Ziricote binding, a multicolor herringbone backstrip, a Ziricote headstock overlay, an Ebony pyramid bridge, traditional fingerboard inlays, gold Waverly tuners with Ebony buttons and grained ivoroid bridge and end pins.

"Pao Rosewood" (Bobgunnia fistuloides aka "Pau Rosa") is not actually a genus of Rosewood, but is a relatively rare African hardwood known for it's density and reddish color. It is a plant that doesn't typically grow very large, so it is rarely seen as a guitar tonewood. It has a voice that is said to fall between somewhere between Rosewood and Ebony. Combined with the Swiss Spruce top of this guitar, I think you may agree with this tone assessment after listening to the included sound sample. It has a lovely voice that is well balanced and clear, with great note to note separation. This guitar plays as sweetly as it sounds and is perfectly setup with Elixir Phosphor Bronze lights and 12th fret string heights of 3/32" on the low E side and 2/32" on the high E side.

Built in 2015 this guitar remains in near mint condition. I cannot find any flaws of any significance and the frets look like new as well. It comes in it's original premium TKL case which also looks like new.

To have Dana build you this guitar with these options would cost you at least $5,500 today. Get this lightly played and near new 2015 model for a significant discount. A lovely and unique instrument indeed. Make it yours today! NY Sales taxes only apply
