Offered for sale;

Used Burns Steer Custom Cutaway “aka” Steer Deluxe c2003. This guitar is in excellent condition, neck and frets are fine. Cosmetically quite clean.

Burns instruments were originally built in Britain during the late 1950s and 1960s and then in Boonville, AR by the Baldwin company between 1965 and 1972. Current production is in Surrey, England and Korea. There is quite a bit of information available about the early days of Burns, however at one point Burns adopted the “Burns USA” logo and production was based both in the UK and Korea.

Featuring a quilted maple top with a chambered mahogany back, hard rock maple neck, maple fingerboard, 25 ½” scale length, 1 11/16” nut width, 20 frets, sealed back tuners, strings through body with a fully adjustable bridge and two humbucking pickups.This Steer weighs in at 7.2 lbs.

The humbuckers are hot, 17.5K ohm bridge, 15.5K ohm neck. Both have an edgy yet rich tone. The odd thing is when you throw what looks like a coil tap switch, individually, the pickups sound similar to single coil. But that’s not what’s happening.

Here’s our educated guess: The pickups are not tappable. Somewhere along the line someone thought they were and tried to wire it that way. What they did was wire the “ground” lead to a grounded mini toggle. When you throw the switch it sends the ground lead to nowhere. There’s enough bleed thru to get a somewhat usable thin tone. But when both pickups are on in “tapped” mode you hardly hear anything.

The other possibility is they tried to make the mini toggle a “kill” switch which works pretty well when both pickups or on. But individually you get too much signal to actually kill. So my advice is keep it in normal mode and you’ll get normal hot humbucker performance in a very uniquely chambered, well-crafted guitar.

This is an interesting and unusual guitar, not an instrument you will come across frequently. Why not be different!

Gig bag included.

*Please note: we do our best giving descriptions of used pieces. We have found it impossible to describe every mark on an instrument or amp that is not in the "mint" category. Also, what's important to you may not be important to someone else. For example, you may say, "I don't care what it looks like as long as it plays or sounds well." Another person may say, "Body cosmetics are very important to me so tell me about every scratch, nick and blemish." So, please ask the questions that are most important to you. If you ask they will be answered. They are free and there's no limit. Additional photos can also be made available.

This is a specific item that is also being offered for sale in our brick & mortar location. It is possible that it has just been sold. Please ask if it is still available before purchasing.
