Retrofret Stock # 6980. C. F. Martin 0-18K Wurlitzer Model Flat Top Acoustic Guitar (1923), made in Nazareth, PA, serial # 19146, natural varnish finish, koa wood body; mahogany neck with ebony fingerboard, black hard shell case. Overall length is 37 7/8 in. (96.2 cm.), 13 5/8 in. (34.6 cm.) wide at lower bout, and 4 3/16 in. (10.6 cm.) in depth at side, taken at the end block. Scale length is 24 3/4 in. (629 mm.). Width of nut is 1 7/8 in. (48 mm.). This is a very fine playing and sounding guitar, with some very clean restoration work. The neck has been reset and the fingerboard trued, retaining the period bar frets. The bridge has been reglued and fitted with a new saddle. There is a very light overfinish to several areas of the top, with some spots of slightly uneven blend with the original varnish. Apart from one tiny spot on the back edge there appear to be no cracks anywhere, and very little wear overall. A very sweet example of an early koa Martin, an exceptional fingerpicker's delight and a neat excuse to trot out the ancient phrase "Gee dad, it's a WURLITZER!" Excellent - Condition.
