SN: 93875. Very clean one-owner example of one of Martin’s long running models made in small quantities. I think of the 000-21 as the photo-negative image of its cousin the 000-28; with herringbone inlayed around the sound hole rather than the top, black pins with white dots as opposed to white with black dots, black and white binding versus the black and white rosette of the 28. But they are fraternal twins in other respects; both with rosewood back and sides, spruce tops, and ebony bridge and fingerboard. The 21 always cost a little less than the 28 but is every bit its equal where it counts. 1946 was a transitional year for Martin and the 000-21 retained some features from the golden era and embraced some of the changes in design. This is a classic example of a tapered brace guitar and as such is can handle medium gauge strings with ease. The decorative appointments are the same as the golden era except the fingerboard inlays which are the large graduated dots. The neck is 1 11/16” at the nut carved to a softer, modified V. Condition is excellent. It’s all original with the exception of one replacement tuner that was done long ago. It is crack free although there was a grain check that did not go through the wood that was stabilized with hide glue. I have had the requisite maintenance performed by my luthier; a neck reset, new frets, exact repro bridge, new saddle and nut. It is completely set up and ready to play. The insides are squeaky clean and the original bridge plate is intact and in fine shape. I believe this guitar has the ebony reinforcement in the neck which some people like and some do not. Nonetheless, the guitar has plenty of subtle overtones and with medium strings has the guts and volume one expects from the BRZ guitar. The case is an original brown Lifton in fine shape.
