Description

22881...This 60 year old Martin mandolin has been played and shows some wear, and has some replaced parts but is a solid player grade instrument and is stage ready with an on board pick up. The inside of the body is signed by CF Martin IV and the instrument comes with a photograph of CFM IV signing the instrument. The signature can be seen in one of the photos. The tuners are replaced but everything else looks original. The tailpiece cover had a hole drilled in it for some reason, can't imagine why, doesn't impact the function though. The top finish and neck finish show some wear, and there is one old repaired crack in the top that is beneath the strings (actually looks like an old center seam separation repair). No other cracks or repairs. A strap button has been added to the heel. The neck is straight and the frets are in good shape, the action low and comfortable. The mando has a bright, lively tone that is particularly good for old time play, loud with good projection. Comes with a non-original hard case. Priced to sell at $650.
