1966 Martin D-12-20 SN. 214337

The D-12-20 model is, in my opinion, one of the best 12 strings available in the market. This one has had some work done at the factory in the past, and recently some work done here in my shop, but it is solid and ready to find a new home. The back and sides are mahogany with a sitka spruce top. Mahogany neck with rosewood fretboard and bridge. The previous owner reported to me that the guitar had its headstock badly broken back in the late 70s and in the early 80s the guitar was sent back to the factory for repair. Martin replaced the neck, repaired a couple of top cracks (including two beside the fretboard extension), and over sprayed the lightly with lacquer. When I acquired the guitar it needed a neck reset, which was done just a few weeks ago to get the guitar ready to sell. The neck angle is now perfect and the playability excellent. The action measures 6/64" at the low E and 5/64" at the high E with just shy of 1/8" of saddle showing above the slot. The neck is straight under tension at concert pitch. The lacquer overspray shows some crazing on the top and a little crazing on the back, which is common on oversprayed lacquer surfaces. The guitar has the big, ringing, chimey sound for which the D-12-20 is known. Comes with a 1990s black molded Martin hardshell case. $1495
