Summary: The CM95 was a solid maple, single cutaway guitar with a bolt-on maple Hofner made neck. It was only available in clear satin natural finish, and featured a 22-fret rosewood fingerboard, MOP inlays, Kluson tuners, cast aluminum bridge and a celluloid pickguard. Electronics consisted of a pair of AP6 humbucking pickups with dual volume and tone controls and 3-way selector switch. This particular CM95 has been heavily modified making it a one of a kind beauty.

Body: The body is the original Carvin 2-piece maple body that has been refinished in a nice dark natural stain. Someone has added the top veneer and the arm bevel.

Neck: The neck is maple and has a D profile, cream bound beautiful dark rosewood fingerboard and headstock, mother of pearl block inlays, 22 frets, bolt on construction, zero fret and interesting 3 ply w/b/w nut. The nut width is 1 5/8” and the scale length is 25”.

Pickups/Hardware: The neck pickup is the original Carvin AP6 humbucker and the bridge pickup is a ’72-’73 Gibson embossed P-90. The pickguard is non original plexi-glass with a wood veneer underneath. The bridge is non original thumb wheel adjustable, the tailpiece is original, the tuners are the replacement Schallers. The controls are 2 volume, 2 tone and 3 way switch.

Cosmetics: This guitar has been played and modified quite a bit in its day. The frets have a bit of wear to them, the back of the neck has a few dings there are 2 screw holes where the original bridge once sat. There is also a bit of buckle rash. There is a big gash on the back of the neck near the treble side on the 3rd fret but it didn’t affect the playability and I didn’t notice it until I gave it a final inspection.

Playability: Although this guitar has some fretwear the playability remains great. The action has been set low by our in house luthier and restrung with a new set of 10’s. The neck is straight and it feels fabulous playing up and down the fretboard.

Modifications: Refinished body, bridge pickup is a Gibson replacement P90, added top wood veneer, custom arm contour, swapped bridge and custom pickguard, replacement Schaller tuning keys.

Weight: 8 lbs, 7 oz.

Case: This Carvin ships in a vintage rectangle hardcase.
