Chaki / P-100

Chaki, a long-established manufacturer in Kyoto, was established in 1947.
In the early days, the company was mainly engaged in the repair and manufacture of double basses.
Around 1960, they started manufacturing pick guitars, and one of the early members of the company was Mr. Shiro Tsuji, a famous builder who is proud of Japan.
It is very unique that they were making acoustic guitars that were more like Gibson guitars and round top guitars, while Martin dreadnought guitars were the most popular in the music scene at that time.

This P-100 is one of the guitars that seems to have been manufactured in the 70's.
Spruce top and maple body
Crisp sound with a characteristic mid-range that can be recognized once stroked.
The tuning is set at flatwound, but the roundwound setting will give you a good taste of the rock-like stirring sound.
Whenever I look at the paint and binding, I think that the roughness, which gives an American feel in a good sense, has an important meaning in the sound.

Being an archtop instrument from the 70's, there is some top drop, but it is not serious and the instrument can still be used with confidence.
